On a bonfire evening, this guy transported me. It was an awfully long time ago, even before Cautionary Tale was released. Just him and his acoustic. He sang a song of his named, "If The Creek Don't Rise," and I couldn't help but swoon. It was the early days. It's interesting how specific moments bind into memories, where others don't. Alas, I was struck and I won't lie, jealous too. It wasn't effortless. You don't write sad songs without having experienced sadness and that isn't exactly my compass north, but writing from a place of pain can yield beautiful things.
Years pass and along comes "Cautionary Tale" to become a permanent resident of my favorite-songs-while-staring-out-of-the-window playlist. Perhaps this remix introduces you to an artist you might also love in these days to come.
